I'm ready to install the top material in my 30 coupe which has been painted, assembled on the chassis, etc. I read in one article that the upholstery should be installed first for ease of installation, then the top material. I'm in a position to move in either direction and welcome any thoughts on the matter.

I really do not think it matters...I did my top first on my 1929 Standard Coupe with no problems.
I do not know where you are located but presume you are inside during this time of the year. Just make sure the area you are going to be in is very, VERY warm so you can really streach the top material while tacking it to the top...If not, this summer when you are out taking a ride in it...it will be flapping and loose. I did mine in the dead of summer with the sun shining on the material for a few minutes or longer to really get a good tight fit as I tacked the material to the wood top frame. I presume you know the proper procedure in tacking the top material to the top of the car????? Pluck

You nailed it exactly Steve. It will be easy to wait and install the top over the warmer months and it makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the response!
