Re: No Spark
Two of the many places that can give trouble.
The lower plate wire can short out. There is an article here: http://www.fordgarage.com/pages/adistlowerplate.htm If you screw #13 from the pictured diagram in too far, it can short out also...just a couple turns is all that's needed. For what it's worth, it turned out my ignition switch was bad... You just need to go step by step, number by number through the pictured diagram and check for power with a test light or a voltmeter. .

Re: No Spark
You have to be systematic to find where the fault is. You have the wiring diagram, so get a test light or multimeter, and start from the source and work your way forward, testing for voltage at each spot where a wire is connected somewhere.
Do you have a fuse somewhere in your wiring? Did you check if the fuse is intact? |

Re: No Spark
I would think the electronic ign. is still good as you found out unfortunately you have the same problem,no spark at the points?you got to trace it down per the schematic.

Re: No Spark
I would use a good quality DVM instead of a test light. With a DVM you can see voltage losses. First thing to check is in reference to chassis gnd, one side of coil should be battery voltage and the second should switch from battery to 0v as you slowly crank the motor over. If the vlotage just drops a couple volts and does not go right to ground when the points close, you have dirty/bad points. I would say dirty points is the most common No Spark cause.

Re: No Spark
Take off the wire on the neg side and see if you get 6 volts. If you do, the prob is down stream of the coil.
