37 Flathead Raised deck ??
Like the title says, how about a 37 block with a raised deck ( or more accurately a lowered block) I was going to post this in the Flathead identification thread but if there is a simple answer or I missed it in the thread then I don't want to ad this and clog up the thread. This is all assumptions on my parts but I see w/p's in the block, 21 studs and a 78 on the bell housing. 78 should be 1937 but maybe not ? The raised deck is the only thing that doesn't fit . Anyone have more info ??

That's a nice and clean looking block....Is it NOS?....I just now checked the block in my original '37 and its deck is not raised....

Re: 37 Flathead Raised deck ??
I have no documentation, but I believe your block to be a service replacement. 78's were built for '37s, '38's, industrial engines, and service replacements for those years as well as for earlier cars having pump-in-head (this version would also have the block-off plate installed). Improvements made in engine design were not limited to production engines, but were applied to all engines where possible, which would explain your raised deck.

Re: 37 Flathead Raised deck ??
I think you have a later service motor. Your engine would not have been installed by Ford into a vehicle on the production line. Your motor was probably cast in 41 or early during WW2 as a direct replacement item for 32-38 V8 use.
