Strictly meant as a compliment, she looks great with her original wheels.

Like Rickey says ...(Got to please yourself) Chris I really like that beefed up look in the back on your 30 tudor, adds just enough without overdoing, no.

I would have thought that the important thing would have been the WHEEL size which includes the tyre. A 4.50X21 tyre has a rolling diameter of 30", 5.00X19 has 29" X 16 has 28". The wheel size is less than 3'' smaller but not allowed on a 28/9 car. DUMB!

Re: '35 Ford rims on Model A's
I am running 5.5x18" rims with firestone tires on my hot rod. They are perfect for this build and really not all that different in diameter compared to the original19" rims that were produced for the car. The wider tire gives a better ride on the roadster. Here is a side by side picture of both style rims.

Re: '35 Ford rims on Model A's
Once I said to a friend, about the '36 Pickup, "It has '35 rims" and he replied "Looks like it's only got five counting the spare tire'.
He had a point! |

Re: '35 Ford rims on Model A's
I have 35's on my 31 Tudor only because it came that way, but I'm seriously thinking of going to stock 19's.

Re: '35 Ford rims on Model A's
When my father and I bought our car in 1997, one of the first things my father said was he wanted the 16" "balloon" tires like he had on his 29 cabriolet in high school. Still have them on with 215/70 R16 tires run tubeless. He's 97 now and still likes the looks of them.

Re: '35 Ford rims on Model A's
Put 16s on my 29 coup and one thing led to another and we ended up with a T spring on the back and a reversed eye spring on the front, lost the fenders and bumpers, along with other changes----now it is just like the car I drove in High school in 1961. In a couple of years I will put it all back together again and present it to My Grand Daughter for a college graduation present. I love seeing different variations of what A-er's do to make them their own.

Re: '35 Ford rims on Model A's
Once you mount a tire on the rim you have a wheel.

Re: '35 Ford rims on Model A's
Sez who??
I worked for a number of years in auto parts at the dealer level. Every parts book, every microfische referred to them as "wheels" or "road wheels". Now with many British cars ( I worked at two Limey dealerships) you could order rims. You got a wheel, minus hub and spokes. Same with bikes, rim plus spokes plus hub equals wheel. Put a tire on it and it is a wheel with a tire mounted on it |

Re: '35 Ford rims on Model A's
Speedo will only be affected if the overall diameter of the tire, wheel or turny roundy thingy, what ever you choose to call it, is changed
