Default 47 Super Deluxe Dash Color

I know that the 47 Super Deluxe closed car dash color is gray metallic and the formula reference no. is 35861KM. My questions are these:

1.What should the gloss level be?? (gloss, semi gloss, matt)??

2.Can anyone supply a paint co. code for the correct color?? (Dupont, PPG, BASF, etc.)??

Thanks, Steve

This will bring some He-Haws ..... For my (late) '47 Super Deluxe Coupe, I had to repaint part of my dash board. I took a piece of my stock dash board to my local Lowe's store and found a perfect match .... a Spray Can of Rust-Oleum Gloss #7784 Charcoal Gray, bar code 200066 77848. Try it .... bring a trim piece to store, compare it, spend a couple bucks, and test it on a piece of primed metal. Be sure to apply at least two coats over light gray primer ( I did three) and let dry at least a day each between coats. I'm not blind yet and can't see any difference.

I used a formula provided to me by cecil/wv for the 48 I am slowly messing with. I used DuPont Chromax base and tamco 2041 clear...

If I were you I would purchase the 1941/1948 Book offered by the V-8 Club. It answers your questions and more!

High jack the thread a little. I have a Deluxe and the needles on the gauges are silver. Most of the Super Deluxes are gold? But I've seen gauges with red hands (needles). Is the red for open cars or just a different vendor?

There were different gauge color schemes depending on the trim level. My 46 gauges are light colored and not red.
