Default 1957 Fairlane Power Steering Conversion

I'm interested in converting from manual to power steering in a 57 Fairlane Sunliner with 312 V8, but I don't see any "original" looking kits out therer online. Any suggestions?

Find a local 50's/60's car club near you with as many Ford owners as you can.
Start asking them if anyone has a parts car with power steering.

If I were looking, I would let my computer help find parts in a dry climate. There are two scrap yards near Phoenix that will mail parts.

I'm putting a bolt-in Borgeson power box in my '57 Ranchero. Not cheap but they engineered it properly. Comes with the correct pitman arm.

The Borgeson unit is a good fit unless you want an original system with the slave cylinder. Some of those show up on EBay now and then. Check out Summit or Jegs; I think they have the parts needed to go with the Borgeson unit. A little alteration of the steering column required if you have a manual transmission with column shift but not if it's an automatic. Caution, Mercury is different!

parts for the original type system are VERY expensive!! it might be just as cost effective to use the borgeson unit with much greater reliability!! just my 2 cents.
