Default Starter Drive - Do they make repair sleeves?

I'm rebuilding an A starter and was going to install the Bendix when I noticed the notched piece on the end of the drive is missing. Now for a Model T, they make a starter drive repair sleeve that you install on the end of the gear drive with a punch or chisel.

Is a larger diameter cousin of this made for the Model A? If so, any leads as to where to find would be appreciated.

If you have a 5/8 shaft you'll probably have to replace the entire bendix . Give Mac's a call for a new one or I have had good luck with used parts from Bert's model A parts

If you are going to buy a starter drive anyway, get one of the new ones from a supplier. They are called a barrel drive, and are almost bullitt proof. Its a good upgrade!

I found an NOS repair sleeve for the 5/8" starter drive at a swap meet about 6 years ago. I used it on a starter I fixed for someone, but don't know if htey are still available. Have you tried any starter repair shops?

I ended up ordering a new drive. Surprisingly it's around fifty dollars less than the Model T version.

The repair sleeve sounds like an opportunity for our parts suppliers.
