Default Hershey questions

I attended this fabulous event every year from 1990 to 2009. Last time I was there, I was pretty disappointed in that they were letting people buy stalls just to park their vehicle in. The upper part of the Chocolate field was pretty sparsely populated with actual stalls but there were lots of cars parked up there.
That is a hell of a lot of walking to look at parked cars. Are they having trouble selling actual stalls for parts or are they just relaxing their qualifications? If they are still allowing this sort of thing I doubt I will go through the expense of travelling across the country to attend. I really loved this swap meet before it became a parking lot also.
What do you guys say about the last 5 years since I haven't been there?

I'd say it has not changed much since the last time you attended. Still the greatest show on earth for me. I just love being there. The amount of walking gets more difficult for me every year though.

John, Yeah, I noticed that the walking wasn't as easy in 2009 as it was in 1990, even though everything was pretty much paved! I don't miss the mud in the white field or the swamp in the old green and yellow fields! You are right about it being the best event, nothing like it anywhere else.

Hershey goes up and Hershey goes down but as John says it's the great show on
earth. We have 2 spaces...one for business and the other to park our little RV on.
Stop by and see us.....RCB 49 and 50....John is right down the way from us and just past him is 'gasoline alley'.
Refreshments always on hand !

My rule of thumb is.."Ya gotta go to know" By electing to not attend you may be missing that opportunity to find that part or car you've been looking for.

some people only set up 1 day, the other days they walk ----I will be one of the people with a car parked in a booth-----but what I brought will be in the booth nextdoor for sale ----there have always been cycles of years that you see nothing "good"---and years that "everything" is good----it is changing, they pick up the trash too quick now, gone are the years that big piles of nos postwar sheetmetal and truck parts are left behind when it didn't sell

There is one section in the chocolate field that is for workers. There are a lot more spaces
in all the fields for vendors. About 10.000...............

If I didn't live on the left coast it would be a no brainer to attend. I don't really need any parts for the cars I am working on but enjoy the heck out of the event, rain, snow or shine, I have see every kind of weather there. Wore a pedometer one year and walked 14 miles each day for 4 days. Can't do that much walking now that I am 65!

I In joy the show and have been going since I was 9 or 10 years old and I miss the mud. Just feels more like Hershey. I agree that the show has turned into a parking lot. If there is a need for more camping space group the campers together and put the vendors together. Also once you are parked in the show you should not be able to leave until Sunday that way there is something to go see on Friday and Saturday. Just my thoughts

I have been going every year since 1968, when most of the show was up by the stadium and the airport was across the street. I know it sounds crazy but I really miss the grass and mud, but you can"t go back. Having the swap meet entirely on blacktop is hard on the feet but Hershey is Hershey! I too am not currently building something but I have to go anyway! Just something about it that get's in your blood!
