Default Who is Selling Bad Wheel Bearings Please

In the thread started by Zener424, the cause of his problem was bad wheel bearings sold by an unidentified vendor. Several posts indicated that not to be uncommon. The question was asked but not answered; "Who was the vendor that sells the bad bearings?" Please tell us who it is that we can avoid the same problem. Thank you.

We have both asked the question with no response! What can the secret possibly be? Wayne

Wrong question. It should be asked who sell a good bearing? Saves bad feelings and more to the point.

I would suggest you use TIMKIN BEARINGS.

They are available thru a bearing supply house. Also some of the better Model A Suppliers sell Timkin bearings. I believe both Bert's and Brattons sell Timkin bearings.

My opinion,

No "wrong" question. The question he asked was very proper. It would have identified the Vendor specifically without all the wondering.

Bad feelings?

Identifying that vendor won't find the good vendor, that is why I said it was a wrong approach. Buy Timken, NOS, or NORS If you need quality. Some Chinese stuff might even possess quality, but I think that would really be a gamble. Counterfeit everything is available the vendor is only selling what he has bought himself. Can you spot a good or bad new bearing?

I'll sell you some bad wheel bearings if you really want some. I have a few worn out sets around here someplace...

But the original question was "Who was the vendor that sold the bad bearings?" He wasn't asking who sells good bearings. BIG difference.

There's no telling how many years that new bearing has been "somewhere" & probably can't be traced to a seller.

What product number do you have for the Timken bearing. Please provide if you have same. Contrary to your suggestion Carquest told me today that Timken does not make a Model A Ford bearing. Wayne

the vendor who sold the bad bearing should know so he has a chance to rectify the problem and not sell any more.

They did, and they promptly replaced all they knew about. They even supplied a new seal free of charge too. This has been several years ago now.

I'm the one that posted the most recent incident regarding the defective rear wheel bearings.

I am confirming for sure where & when I purchased the bearings from and I am in contact with the suspected vendor to discuss a few things:
Making this right, approximately $600 in parts have been wasted and someone could have been hurt or killed.
Performing a recall, by contacting every person that was sold these bearings.

I'm doing this, rather than broadcasting on FordBarn and other places that they are a horrible parts vendor. I feel that would be unfair because this could have happened to any of the parts vendors. I just want to see them do the right thing.

Meanwhile, Mike V. Florida and forever4, that is some great, really informative information about bearings that you posted. That's what we need.

Regards to all,
Phil
