Default Can someone tell me what this is?

I started rewiring under the hood. There's been a few Jerry-rigs done before. I actually got the engine to turn over. Under the dash there's this. The wire coming from it was cut, so I don't know where it is supposed to go. It may go to something towards the back like the pump. Any help is always appreciated.

Ignition resistor on the left and circuit breaker on the right. Google “wiring diagram” for your vehicle and you’ll see it and how it’s wired up. Both are pretty important

I would recommend replacing the ignition resistor. Mine failed on my 40 after 84 years. It was hard figure out that is was bad as it would only fail occasionaly. NAPA under 10 Dollars.

I would also consider a rewiring after looking these close up Picts. I can see bare spots in some of the wiring. Looks to be original.

Ken, Good advice above. New wiring is in order. Save your old part as you never know...

Good advice and thanks for the referral where to buy it. I plan on keeping it 6 volt and replacing all of the electrical components and rewiring. Most of it appears to be original with some jerry-rigs. The odometer says 03919. Considering its use, that doesn't sound far-fetched. I did get it to turn over, even though it was dragging.

I would also rewire the truck. It's an easy task with the correct style wiring harness.
