Headlight mounting issue
So the subject line says it all, I'm having headlights mounting issues and it's driving me nuts. They mount to the light bar just fine, but I have two headlight pointing north when they want to go south (see attached photos). Thoughts?

Re: Headlight mounting issue
Looks like your light bar may have been reworked? The lights do move up/down for adjustment.

Re: Headlight mounting issue
I agree with Gary. This could get tricky to bend the bar back to the correct shape and still have the ends line up with the fenders and braces.

Re: Headlight mounting issue
It looks like you need to find another H/L bar.
You can, probably, find one on here. Perhaps, someone will contact you. MIKE (mikeburch) |

Re: Headlight mounting issue
That headlamp bar looks like the stamped one that was only used for a very short time in 1930. The forged ends sometimes broke and were not re-welded in the right position. From the photo that is what I came up with.

Re: Headlight mounting issue
Hey All,
Sorry for the delayed reply; Memorial Day is really big in my family. Yes I'm sure the bar is on the right way. The person who put the car in the barn back in 1956 (original owner) decided to paint the whole car in brown rustolium. Therefore, it's kind of like connect-the-dots when it comes to removing, scrapping, sanding, and reattaching. Furthermore, upon second guessing myself, I took it off and noticed that the bar has a large stress fracture on the underside near the driver-side headlight mount. Lastly, I just found out that all of my photos did not post. Whats up with that? it happens all the time. Any suggestions on that front? Thanks, Jon |

Re: Headlight mounting issue
Give Bert's a call. 800-321-1931
I'm sure they would have a good used original bar. |

Re: Headlight mounting issue
Thanks Tom, and will do. Maybe you can help me with my next question: When running the tail light wiring from the main wiring harness off the steering box, how can I connect it to the chassis, or do I need to do so? I was thinking zip-ties...? But I'm sure there's a better solution, or do I even need to connect it to the chassis in the first place?

Re: Headlight mounting issue
The suppliers sell frame clips to hold the harness, I install them with a putty knife to minimise scratching the frame.

Re: Headlight mounting issue
I do the same as Dave, except I've used mostly those free credit cards that keep coming in the mail. To save some shipping cost, get a list of what you need and put it all on one order when you buy the bar.
