A Sensitive Clutch
I recently purchased a 1931 Victoria and I am still trying to get used to the clutch. In other cars I have found that the clutch has more movement at the point that the pressure plate contacts the disc. In this car, as you let out the clutch, the clutch engages very very quickly. When starting out in first gear, you let out the clutch pedal and let it out some more and then suddenly you are fully engaged. So many times I find the car leaps forward almost stalling the engine. What would make a clutch so sensitive? Otherwise the car shifts nicely. The car has about 1500 miles on a drive train rebuild. Ed

Re: A Sensitive Clutch
Have you tried adjusting the linkage for about 1-1 1/2" "free play"??

Re: A Sensitive Clutch
Wonder if the throw out needs a little grease on the nose of the transmission?

Re: A Sensitive Clutch
A rusty clutch can get grabby. Slip it some, it should polish up pretty quick.

Re: A Sensitive Clutch
Lack of use makes things stiff, with the car parked use your left leg and push down 2 dozen times on the pedal, slide your left leg out and with your right leg push down 2 dozen times. Whew take a drink of water and now go for a drive to see if it's better!
