Light smoke from breather.
I've noticed that my 8ba (stock) is a missing some fine smoke from its stock breather. it does seem to do it mostly on start-up and warm in, which makes me think rings. I guess this could be from a variety of reasons, would you like to name a few

Yes it is probably blow by from the rings. A PCV valve will stop that.
Have you put ypur car ont an electric pump and removed the pump pushrod? If so there are guys on here who will advise what you should be doing about oil mist caused by taking the push rod out. |

That's about it.
I wouldn't worry about it much unless it becomes excessive, or really annoying. It's doing its job. |

Re: Light smoke from breather.
Well actually I have installer PCV valve in the road draft tube hole. So I guess in hindsight the smokers actually coming out the filler tube.
Also it is really down on power, but it is a compression test and it was running around the 110 mark on all cylinders. So I don't know, but does that sound about right? |

You could be getting a false reading if there is oil getting around the rings. Give it a pressure leak down test to be sure.

Re: Light smoke from breather.
Check your dipstick. When I had this from my engine it was steam. There was a waterpump leak into the oil pan. If you have this your dipstick will bring up chocolate milk instead of clean oil.

Re: Light smoke from breather.
Remove spark plugs, turn each cylinder to TDC and put compressed air into cylinder, one at a time, and listen for leakage at the carb, exhaust and breather/oil fill tube to see what is leaking. Cylinders can be difficult to keep on TDC, so be careful.
