Re: Do any of you smell a rat here?
We should respond with this:
I would like to buy your car for 500.00 more than asking, please take it off craigs list and give me your contact information and I will have a certified check sent to you right away. I will have my transportation company contact you for shipping This is the response I got seven times to my last craigslist add for a used furnace. I responded that they can come and get it for free and if they like it they can give me what ever was fair for it or another one was if you need it that bad I can give it to you I don't need the money that bad. This was following a few email about certified checks and the what not. I didn't have any responses after I said they can have it for free. |

Re: Do any of you smell a rat here?
This person uses more than just model A's. There was an ad for a 50's pickup in NY with very similar text. I contacted them, and they wanted me to send a certified check deposit to an address in GA. of course I didn't do it, but it is an ongoing scam. I reported them, but nothing happened. It was listed in Albany, NY

I agree with 1930 in his comment.
This smells like a big fat 2 legged rat. |

Re: Do any of you smell a rat here?
Agreed. I was recently ready to buy a 3910 Ford tractor at a very low price from Craigslist. Similar scenario: Woman's husband died, selling out and moving to OK to live with mother. Sounded good until the EBay story was announced and I finally wised up to the scam. "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is".

https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/...393993065.html Hi, I'm selling it at this price of $6,000 because my husband died 2 months ago and it brings me bad memories and that's the reason I want to sell it asap. No damage or hidden defects. It is in immaculate condition, meticulously maintained. I have a clear title, without liens or loans on it. Me and my son decided to sell the house and we moved to my parents house in Eagle Point, OR trying to start a new life. I want to use eBay Motors services (5 days of testing prior purchase) for the safety of both of us so if you’re interested in purchasing, please provide me your full name for the bill of sale, your delivery address and a phone number so I can notify eBay that you're selected as my possible buyer and they will contact you to explain the entire procedure. I look forward to hear from you. Thanks! P.S. I have attached the pics to the email, the specs are below: Body Type : Roadster Miles : 18,040 Transmission : Manual Drive Type : RWD Exterior Color : Green Interior Color : Black Fuel Type : Gasoline Title : Clear 1928 Ford Model A roadster truck, very good condition, runs and drives great. Has a great running flathead 4 cylinder, 4 row radiator, '39 Ford 3 speed transmission (synchronized gears and no double clutching), '48 Ford hydraulic brakes, mustang dual master brake cylinder, '31 steering box, 12 volt alternator with 12 volt headlights, turn signals, and LED tail lights. Wheels are '35 Ford V8 wire wheels, with 16" radial tires. Front & rear end rebuilt recently, with all new bushings & bearings. Has accessory temp, volt & amp gauges. New battery, new brakes, engine starts with the push of a button and is running fantastic, nice and clean interior, nice and very clean underneath, no rust at all, super clean engine compartment, always garaged and never seen any rain. |

Re: Do any of you smell a rat here?
like a fillipino pimp once told me.. "you pay your money, you take your chances"...just remember, it's takes greed to be hustled...the scammer relys on your greed to close the deal

Re: Do any of you smell a rat here?
I once told a bogus buyer that we would have to get the bill of sale notarized. My wife is a notary and we can meet at her office to get it done. She works at the local Police Station.
He never got back with me...huh! |

Re: Do any of you smell a rat here?
And here it is advertised elsewhere.
http://classiccarsexport.com/ford/44...er-pickup.html Is it possible that this listing is genuine and that the listing on the stockton craigslist is the fake with the information and picture lifted off the genuine listing. Either way it is Buyer beware.

I see it is now listed here on the Barn classified adds. Perhaps the real owner this time.

Re: Do any of you smell a rat here?
Ten years ago I bought an antique clock on Ebay here in the UK. A couple of years back I decided to research the maker's name. There, lo and behold was my clock listed on Craigslist in the UK, Canada and somewhere in Scotland....the mind boggles
