Default seat belts 40 coupe

Juliano's has the latch & link belts in two lengths 80 and 60 inches, what length would be correct for a 40 coupe stock seat ?

thanks kurt

Depends on how/where you mount them, the seat position, and the girth of the people going to use them. I would cut two 30 inch, and two 40 inch pieces of rope, lay out the rope where the belts will lay when installed, see what's better. A lot of extra belt is not desirable, looks sloppy when curled up on the seats.

I've always used the longer ones in my 40s with the stock seat.

I second the use of the longer ones. 5 feet, (60 inches), isn't much when it has to run from the floor up and across the seat and someone in it and back down to the floor. Remember, there is always an adjustment to take any slack out.

For the 40 coupe you need the long belts.
I made the mistake of buying 60 in. belts (last photo) and found they were too short. I have a 31 inch waist and am 5'8" tall. I then had to buy extenders. Do a trial run position first.

I used 3 in. wide lap belts from another company. Attached are some sketches as a guide, the receipt for my belts and the next to last photo showing how I was able to tighten the bolts as a one man job.
BE VERY SURE YOU DON'T DRILL INTO YOUR MUFFLERS ARE DRILL HOLES WHERE YOU CAN'T REACH THEM.

Do not attach your belts to your frame.

PS: If you can, install 3 point safety harness safety belt set up. Much safer.

Not wishing to hijack the thread, but does anyone have an idea on how to stop the belts falling behind the seat when it's folded forward?

Another vote for the long ones. I have the stock seat with the Juliano's 80 inch belts. I'm a plus size and they work for me.

Check out a company called Seat Belts Plus. I have used them several times and they offer a lot of belt options and have different types of mountings.

In my 37 coupe, I used Juliano’s chrome lift latch retracting belts for the driver and passenger, with a lap belt for the centre seat position. I chose the shorter 60” lap belt but should have got the 74”. The 60” is too short for other than a small child.
The centre lap and the buckle end of the retracting belts are fastened to the drive shaft tunnel floor.

I’ve got a set of belts that were too short if anyone wants them. Definitely measure with rope, and don’t be too optimistic on how short you can get away with, and don’t forget to measure with different seat positions.

Yes, keep the seat buckles located on the tunnel side so they don't fall out the door.
