Default front fender exchange

any chance '40 deluxe front fenders can be replaced with '39 deluxe easily? same question on grille assembly. thank you.

Front fenders YES, to my knowledge the perimeter of the 39 fenders and the 1940 car fenders are the same.
Grill assembly NO, the hood is different (39 hood the same shape as 1940 standard). The hood would need to be replaced also. In addition early 1939 had a different latch than later 1939 (and 1940 standard) so care would need to be taken to make sure there is a match.

Karl nailed it.

I will add... the 39 front fenders have a different shape at the lower - front edge. If you want concourse correct, then you'll need to find '39 fenders.

Early 39 deluxe Ford ( and Mercury ) front fenders are quite concave between the grille and headlamp opening. Sometime around March '39 they became flatter. Might have something to do with the dies used for stamping. Also March was about the time Ford bought the body assembling back in house. I read where it was due to the constant labor strikes at Murray and Briggs etc. Kube would know more.
39 fenders will also need a slot cut out in the opening to accomodate the '40 headlamp buckets.
