How hard is it to remove the running board splash shield on a 28 roadster? I got the fenders off and every thi g else in preparation for her paint job end of this month.

You have to unbolt the body from the frame first. Then you need to slightly raise the body on each side (one at a time) and then remove the special carriage bolt in the front and the special bolt in the rear of the splash apron. Then if you have the runningboards removed the splash aprons will just slide out.

On my '29 Coupe, the body had never been raised, so all the running board and splash apron hardware was pretty rusted. Fenders were easy, aprons were a bit harder, areas at the bolt holes rusted and stayed with the frame when I removed the aprons.. just another viewpoint on the project you're facing..kb

If you do remove the body I highly recommend that you get a VIN inspector verify the number and also state the current engine number. May save yourself (or heirs) a lot of grief. Some states will not accept the block number as a VIN number - I believe Fla. is one such state. The VIN inspector can also issue a new VIN number under the reconstruction provisions that you would affix to the fire wall. Any way that's the way it is in SC.

aermotor is spot-on.. that's the reason mine had to be dis-assembled.!
Delaware DMV needed to verify frame/engine numbers.
Sometimes the Model A learning curve can be steep.!
