31 Taillights
I was at a flea market yesterday and bought a Ford Model A book by Jim Schild. Interesting reading. One statement in the book says that Ford authorized dealers to install a right side taillight in Sept 1930 as an option to enhance safety (and profit). I have never seen one on an unrestored car and assumed that they were all added during restoration. Is this correct, or possibly a U.S. only option? It would be nice to know if they could have come from the dealer so equipped . Does anyone have any info? Thanks, Jim.

Re: 31 Taillights
Area 18 of the Judging Standards and Restoration Guidelines addresses this late 1931 dealer option.

Re: 31 Taillights
The information is on page 586 of the Service Bulletins, Oct 1931.

Re: 31 Taillights
With another $50 shipping, $.70 dollar, brokerage fees and 13 percent taxes, it is getting close to a couple hundred dollars. Thanks.

Re: 31 Taillights
Hooboy! It would be cheaper to drive down to your nearest US border state and buy one from a MAFCA dealer or member.

Re: 31 Taillights
One light was standard. The company allowed dealers to sell the second light to make money. However, as with most options, the factory would install optional equipment as special order by the dealer.
