Model A vs. Model B lifters
good morning. I recall reading somewhere that the Model B lifters had a larger diameter foot than the Model A due to a more aggressive grind on the cam and that the cam lobes would wear quickly if the wrong ones were used? Is this correct Or am I dreaming? The reason that I ask is that I have acquired a B engine that has been partially rebuilt and not reassembled and I want to be sure that I use the correct lifters. how do I identify the correct ones? Also, is there any thoughts on original vs adjustable lifters other than the initial adjustment? Thanks got the help. Jim.

Correct they are different B Lifters are larger just measured mine foot dia is 1.190"
however if the cam has been reground most likely you can use the smaller A Model lifters Check the contact with prussianj blue |

I like original lifters and would prefer to use them on a new rebuild. If the parts are correct and everything performed and installed correctly, they don't move around much and the setting will stay put. |

'they (lifters ?) don't move around much' Wondering about this, in that, if they move around..is that a bad thing ? Or are you speaking of the valves |

Well, they do go up and down don't they. What I meant was there have been some issues brought up regarding the 'modern' lifters going out of adjustment as well as base diameter problems. If originals are used and the valves installed properly, the clearances don't 'move'. The 'adjustment' stays put. |

Re: Model A vs. Model B lifters
I have a B engine that is cracked under the insert valve seats. Is it a boat anchor or is there a permanent fix?
