Idle curiosity question Gen cutout
What, if anything does the capital letter on the 39 generator cut out stand for.
Oh, as an aside. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I believe I have found a local metal fabricator, who is a friend of a good friend. He is also a flathead guy, who is excited about my project and about building me a proper engine for the 60HP project. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. I have everything all cleaned up and pretty, except the fan. I'm gonna have to settle for my 2.5" hub as I cannot locate what the book says is correct, i.e., a 4 1/8" hub, part number 73-8600. Does anyone have at least a good picture of one???

Lawson, most round Ford cut outs have two capitol letters stamped on top of the cover above the terminals. B is for battery and A is for armature or generator connection. Regards, Kevin.

Re: Idle curiosity question Gen cutout
Thanks, Kevin. I've seen that on the SIDES, near the terminals, but this is a lone capital B on the top.

Re: Idle curiosity question Gen cutout
With respect, most original round generator cutouts have no letters other than the four of the script 'Ford' recalling that round cutouts date back into Model A days. In the U.S. the single letter A was added '34 followed by a version with the single letter B starting in the '36 model year. Those round cutouts with two letters are post-WWII service parts.
