Question for Larry Brumfield
Larry,
It's good to see you back in The Barn. There is an ongoing post that is gathering names of people wanting to order 31 running boards. The manufacturer won't manufacture them until he has an order for 100. Why don't you do the same. There are a lot of us waiting for your heads. Find out how many. It may be time to make a batch. Put me on the list. This is NOT a private message . Richard Anaheim CA |

I don't know, maybe he has other things to do and missed reading your post within the 12 hours you gave him.

Re: Question for Larry Brumfield
I've made this offer before and will make it again, with a slightly shorter deadline.
I'll pay a deposit right now of up to 100% for a 5.9 or better Brumfield head delivered within four months. Joe

Re: Question for Larry Brumfield
Why don't you get a 5.9 Snyder head out of the catalogs and call it a day? It looks stock and works fine.

Larry, why does it matter who, or how many people, like or will accept somebody else's head so long as enough people would rather have your head? I'm far from the only person on this board who is postponing purchase of a head in the hope that you will make another batch. Joe

Re: Question for Larry Brumfield
I don´t know if www.modelatrader.com/brumfield/brumfield.html is Brumfield´s official home page, but it would be nice to add there that head are not available.
Me and my friend tried several times to contact mr.Brumfield to buy 2 head for our cars, but never received any answer. We tough´t that shipping to overseas was the problem. Too bad, i would gladly buy one Super head, but i think i must get Snyder´s or some aluminium head. It seems to be very hard to find used Brumfiel head from eBay etc. Are everyone so satisfied them? |

Re: Question for Larry Brumfield
I am going to go out a limb and stand up for Larry. To me, it is very obvious (from many post he has made) that Larry will build heads when he wants to. No matter what has been stated, or how much begging goes on, is he going to make them other than when he wants to.
Larry is an intelligent individual, and knows there is a demand for his product. But I believe he wants to build them on his time only. Also, because of his high standards, the building of said heads are very demanding. I think you all should put yourself in Larry's place and try to understand he can do as he wishes, and it is very obvious what his wishes are. Respectfully,

Re: Question for Larry Brumfield
Hello Tuumer
The Fordbarn Admin/Mod made it clear to me not to discuss business on this web site and I'm sure it applies to everyone else. Shipping overseas is a problem. The cost is double the price of the heads and sometimes more. You're right about the web page. I need to remove it. Buy a head from Snyder with my blessing. Thanks |

It's good of you to lay the question of your making more heads to rest as well. Folks can now look for the best "available" head and that is likely to be Snyder's. Happy Thanksgiving. |

The only thing I will tell you is the Brumfield Heads will see a horsepower improvement.
As for the other parts; as they used to say, "Loose lips sink ships." Have a Happy Thanksgiving! |

Re: Question for Larry Brumfield
What's wrong with Henry Ford's heads? Geez - I don't want to go 65 miles an hour in a car with a wood frame and mechanical brakes. And I kinda like saving the money and enjoying the old Model A as it is. When I want to go fast, i'll drive the Toyota. Standard head - no waiting, no nasty business dealings, and plenty of speed for me.

Its not all about going fast. Higher compression makes a BIG difference in driveability, such as having more power to climb the hills. Model As run cooler and usually get better gas milage with higher compression. An underpowered vehicle that slows to 25-30 mph on steep hills is a hazard to the road. Most of the original heads that I have removed had hair line cracks caused from over heating over the years. |
