Re: Opinion on European Classic Tires
Back to European classics- was just on the phone with the vendor from Maine- David
these tires are now 115. each- shipped to your door including tax. he states they are made in Germany- if so, how bad can they be? I will order a set and give an update down the road. |

I also noticed the footprint on the ground was smaller than the Goodyear. |

Re: Opinion on European Classic Tires
Likewise, I found a site called Performance Plus that is selling the lucas tires for 105.
including tax and shipping each. so there are a few choices out there on the inexpensive side........... |

Re: Opinion on European Classic Tires
Someone on the Barn noted that the discount tires may be out of date. The rubber ages. Have the vendor check the date code. An out of date tire is not necessarily bad but could be.

Have had about 40 cars since and the only one with whitewalls was the '37 Plymouth. I'm well known for my dislike of whitewalls on Model As but the 37 Plymouths just look TOO drab with blackwalls.....

Interesting. I was on the brink of ordering a set of Lucas tires until I read this. "Wandering" is my buggest complaint about Firestones so I do not want any more of that. Now it's back to either paying more for Goodyears or waiting until late July for Universals......

Re: Opinion on European Classic Tires
My Town Sedan would wander, even before I installed Lucas Tires. I installed a panhard bar in the rear which helped some. Then when I was installing my Mitchell overdrive I found a broken shackle on the left rear corner. I couldn't tell it was broken, even while greasing, until I tried to remove it. Then the nut just turned? Seems to be common with repro shackles? http://www.fordgarage.com/pages/brokenshackles.htm
I replaced both and all is good. No more wandering, even with Lucas tires. |

Re: Opinion on European Classic Tires
So that puts me in a bad situation- do I believe the Lucas tires are problematic and pass on them or do I go ahead and get a set and risk spending $400+ for tires I will possibly be uhappy with.....

What did you end up buying? Who was the supplier? Were the tires in stock when you placed the order? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by shew01; 07-09-2021 at 04:21 AM. |

Re: Opinion on European Classic Tires
Besides a reasonable price, it is very important that tires have a current date code. I wonder how many of you all have bought old stock tires thinking they were new? Especially beware of tire sales because in many cases outdated tires are being sold.
