Default 1941-48 Ford Mercury Deck lid Handle Stainless Surrounding Trim

Can anyone identify the stainless piece attached to this 41-48 deck lid handle? Is this a Ford or Mercury part or accessory?

Looks like 1942 Super Deluxe.

1942deluxe is absolutely correct. This Trim piece is for the 1942 Ford Super Deluxe. It is not a Mercury part.

You originally asked about the Trunk Lid Trim on Fords and Mercurys.
The top photo shows a 1946 Mercury and the bottom photo shows a 1948 Mercury. The difference is in the "filler" piece between the two chrome strips. On the 1946 Mercury, the name plates are short and in between is painted body colour. On the 1948 Mercury, this piece with the names on each end is full length and completely fills the area between the two chrome strips. The early 1947 Mercurys would be a carry over of the 1946 style, while the later 1947 Mercurys would be like the 1948 Mercury. Hope that this explanation helps.
