The Wesleys product is still available under a different name. It's the same stuff but called Black Magic Bleche White. The stuff works good but the yellow always comes back. I noticed the the left rear tire always yellows faster and much more severe than the other three. I used to think that the white in that tire was defective or something. Then I realized that with the garage door open, that tire gets all of the sun in morning. During the summer months the garage door is open often. Now I wonder if I use SOS pads if the white walls would be less sensitive to the sun's rays. That will be next summer's experiment!

Spray 9, Castrol Super Clean or Fantastic all work for me. '56 Chev with wide whites.

If you have a driver then you will eventually need new tires, keep them as is till your next set of new tires and go BLACK!!!

That's what I would do. And, I wouldn't bother putting the whitewall in either. With the possiblity of creating a leak and poor inner tubes now coming from China, just drive it as is.

What are the problems with the China inner tubes?

They seep air through the rubber...
Brattons has the best tubes made specially for them off shore but to better specs worth the extra few $$

Mitch, Thanks. I think I read some where that either the rubber or the butyl tubes seeped less air. I can't remember which was better.

I have several inner tubes made in China, only because I can't find American made tubes, and they all leak air. Brand new bike tubes in aluminum rims, so no spoke problems, and none of the tubes can hold air for more than a few days. Same thing with my small tubes used on engine carts, they are brand new and not even on the cart yet, and they don't hold air.

I bought heavy duty castor wheels from Harbor Freight for a portable work table that I made. . I've changed the air valve cores and they still won't hold air for very long. Guess where they are made.

Maybe it is just me but I worry about some of the chemicals people recommend putting on tires. I think I would get some tire black from a automotive paint store and paint them black. If they are too old I would replace them regardless of how much tread is left.

I use Mr. cleans magic erasers. the first time I went through a few of them to get the yellow off. if I redo them every so often I can get by with using only 2.

I never heard of Magic Erasers until 2 years ago when my friend gave me a couple to try on an old white boat steering wheel that was almost black with age and dirt. Other methods failed, but the Magic Erasers made the steering wheel nice and white again.

My car has Lester white walls. I have had many guys ask how I keep them so white. These tires just stay white. I use Wesley's on them occasionally. The tires were on the car when I bought it six years ago. They still look great no cracks tubes hold air. Possibly Lester white walls just stay whiter than others. When I replace these I will be putting black walls on I like them better. Any other comments on Lester white walls?

Fortunately, unlike those unfortunate souls during the '20's and '30's, I buy the dual / combo tires. These specially made tires are WHITE on one side and BLACK on the other. So which ever you prefer, these tires will 'fit the bill'. If you prefer black tires, you install the white side inward and the black side outward. And when you sell your car, the new owner can make his own choice, changing them if he wants something different than what you preferred.

P.S. - remember 'side-walls' (aka 'Port A walls) ? I still have a NOS set of these for my '69 VW Beetle.

Slightly yellowed tires just have a nice patina.

Doesn't patina add to the value?

Overheard at an AACA meeting: Putting white walls on an A is like "Gilding the lily"
Haven't needed to replace tubes since early '90 s (up on stands). When the time comes to get tubes I intend to find out what people in Germany use. I'm sure they know how to keep air in them.
