Default 226 6-Cyl Timimg Cover

Hi All,

Question: The timing cover on my Ford 226 engine has 2 pointers coming out of the timing cover. Which is the correct pointer to line the timing mark on the harmonic balancer when using the timing light to set the time.

Thanks, Steve

While cranking it clockwise from the front, use the first one that comes into alignment. That one is Before TDC, the next one is TDC. What year is the six? Up to 47 is a G after than it's an H with side distributor.

Its a 1951 H, so if I read the specs correctly the timing should be set at the first pointer? Vacuum disconnected?
Thanks, Steve

That's how I did mine. Starts very easily and is a great running engine.
