Default Overdrive question

My 30 sedan has a warn o/d, now have a hot wire through a toggle switch to the solenoid and when you flip the switch you can hear the loud click. When you try to engage it will not engage, the freewheeling works fine but it does not engage o/d.
Was working fine before we shipped it here, but not now.
Any ideas what the problem might be?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Is the cable moving the overdrive lever full travel from the OFF position to the ON position?

Seeing as you have a toggle switch to power the solenoid, make sure you let up on the gas just before you turn on the switch. The car has to be coasting for the BW to engage.

On mine, the first engagement takes 2-3 tries before it will engage and then it engages on the first flip of the switch for the balance of the day.
