Default Coupe/roadster spare tire carrier

I have a spare tire carrier that only states in the Judging Guidelines that is an early style. Can anyone provide more specific information on when this carrier was used? Note that it has no large D nut in the top hole. I see no markings on it.

I don't have my copy handy but my drawings include all the info you are looking for including the date of the "D" nut addition on either the long version or the short version.
