Default 1931 bumper cross brace

On a 1931 Model A the rear bumper bracket cross brace has a, for lack of a better word, bump in it where it mounts to the bumper brackets on both sides. Is this correct?
If anyone has a good one I would be interested in it. My car is a March 31.

Thanks for any help.

I do not have a set of Stds. with me now but the late 31 used the reinforced bracket as you are suggesting. I was, however thinking it was a little later than March. Maybe someone else can confirm.

The last version of the cross brace used one short and one special long bolt on each end. It sound like the one you are describing. Does your car have a flat firewall or indented?

I believe you are talking about the flat bar that has a slight "wave" on each end of the bar. It sounds correct, but I'm not sure of the dates for this. I'll look for a picture of it.

Mine has the flat firewall. I would post a picture but can't figure out how to do it with an iPad?

Hope this is the right one. Took this off of my 1931 Deluxe Tudor, indented firewall. Bought the car in 1978 and took it apart in 1984.
Restoring it now, finally.

Marco, I'm curious--what is special about the long bolt? Thanks

Has anyone got one of these they don't need that they would sell?

One mounting bolt is longer because of the strengthening rib.

We have several to sell.

On a side note. I have had several very low mileage early 1931 FLAT firewall Model A Fords, and still have one with 40K miles, and all of them had the "Late" 1931 rear bumper cross brace that this thread is referencing. I think, but it is only from my observation, that this reinforced cross brace came out in March, before the April/May introduction of the indented firewall.

Here is a picture of the brace that 31RPU was trying to post.

I am not familiar with this variation so comments from those who know better.

The last version of the cross brace was used July 1931 to end according the the Judging Standards. It would have also been used for repairs on most older cars.

Are you talking about the one with the reinforcing rib like Arcieri posted above?
