Model A Back Cowl Mounting Screws
Are the rear hood mounting screws secured with machine nuts? The screws go at a slight angle and terminate in a hard to reach area between the firewall and gas tank.
Are the nuts accessed by hand in-between the firewall and gas tank, or do the screws grip with what's in-between then firewall and gas tank? Synder's catalog shows the rear hood mounting screws sold as a set of two on page A-163. Nuts are not depicted, leading me to believe nuts are not used. Any ideas? Please Help! |

Yes, however the nuts are "cage nuts" meaning they have a small sheet metal strap around them to hold them while you install/remove the machine screw. |

My cage broke and one nut escaped. With a young helper holding, I believe, a 12-24 nut up between the tank and firewall I could get the screw started and tightened.
