Default 38 vs 40 pickup sun visor brackets

Does anyone know what the difference is between 38 and 40 pickup sun visor brackets and has anyone ever seen the 38s? An 01C bracket is made after market and it is listed as fitting 38 & 39. An 81C bracket was made originally though and I would like to know what the difference is.

Thanks,
Scott

My 39 truck header panel has 3 dimples and NO hole.. It never had visers in its former life as a ton an a half pumper truck. I have not found one yet . The spring is on the outside on the mounting flange . They look the same as 35-7
