Default 36 pickup starter switch mounting

My frame is missing the mounting holes for the foot actuated starter switch. I can see in the metal toe board where it needs to mount, but if I知 off by a little bit the switch probably won稚 line up with the floorboard hole.

Can someone give me dimensions of where I should drill the holes?

I知 thinking this is a car frame that used a dash-mounted switch?

PU and car frames are the same. Did the car have a dash mounted starter switch? I didn't think so.

I’d always heard they were the same also. This floor starter switch was with the truck, but I have replaced the frame. Surely someone has a floor mounted switch and can locate the mounting holes?

Can you install the front floorboard and locate the switch to mark the location?

CA Victoria - I may have to do that. It comes thru at an angle. I was thinking of securing the toe board and then using a vise grips to hood the switch on the frame, then drill holes.

Or put masking tape on the frame and mark it thru the holes before drilling......

Here are pictures of a 36 truck frame and a 36 car frame. The black frame with the section cut out is the original truck frame that had a lot of repairs on the kick up area so I used it for a donor to repair sections in a car frame (the frame with the bit of red paint) that was in better shape. There are two small holes in both frames that might be what you are referring to. I will put a tape measure on both and post a picture. Art

Going off your trans mount you have a 37-39 frame. The x member is different you’ll need to align it with your toe board. And when using a later frame you’ll likely need to space the switch up 3/8 of a inch from the frame using washers so that it pokes through the toe board enough. I just went through this on the last two truck I did.
