Default Engine options in a '54 Mainline

Looking at a '54 Mainline 2 door sedan.
It has a 3 speed with OD and a weak 239.
I have access to a pretty nice 272 ECG that's been gone through, would that motor bolt up to the transmission in the '54?

I've searched the forum but can't seem to use the correct phrasing to get the information I need.

Yes. So far as I know, all Y blocks share the same bolt holes for motor mounts, and bell housings. The trucks have a different front cover to work with the front MM, but the covers will interchange.

That's what I was hoping to find to be true. Thanks for the info.

Old Don is correct. I have a 54, came with the 239. I put in a 312 and everything lined up correctly.
