Starting problem fixed
I have been chasing a slow starting problem in my 33 with the 99a engine in for a while.
It always starts ,but the starter seemed to have one big job to spin the motor, Well today ,at a loose end, I thought I would take the generator off to fix a squeak in it, On stripping the generator I saw a black segment on the commentator, and one wire gone from it through the steel part. I fitted a NOS armature, first thing,I had to back the third brush way back to get the charging down,After mucking around setting the third brush,I noticed it started like a rocket, Not slow turning over like before, My thoughts are, even though it always showed a charge on the amp meter it may only have been putting in less that the 6v. |

Re: Starting problem fixed
He's fixed the problem, it wasn't a battery fault, it was charging fault. "it now started like a rocket"
