Default Bed liner on Running Boards

I have a pair of repro running boards for a Huckster I'm building and thinking about bed liner for practical/durable finish. Anyone here ever do something like that? How about undercoating the front fenders with the same material?

If not restoring, why not? Depending on type it will add some weightto fenders, etc.

I say if it's not to be a show car but a fun run around car, do as you want. A's are to be enjoyed. Have fun.

I applied bed liner to the underside of the front & rear fenders on Faye. Seems to me it will help prevent star chips on the fenders. The salt from Bonneville stuck to it and had to be scraped/power washed/salt away-ed to get it off.

Here is another option I have used in the past under Jeep fenders to prevent corrosion from desert salts. Use the water base "Henry's" roofing patch. It is a asphalt product that is homogenized with water for easy application and cleanup. When dry it leaves only the asphalt and is impervious to everything but petroleum solvents. Very inexpensive, and can be applied in multiple coats for the thickness desired.

I used Rhino-coat on some step plates for a farm tractor, and the stuff looks like it belongs there.
