New to me 1947 super deluxe
Made a 3700 mile round trip effort to pick up this coupe in The desert. Did it in four days, saw alot of route66 along the way there. Stayed at the blue swallow motel in Tucumcari,NM. Neat experience. Had trailer issues on the way back. Not so fun. Had to get a new rear axle. Set me back about 7 hours. Anyway got her home, cleaned her up. Runs great, shes been sitting up for about 7 years since the owners passing. The 59ab is smoking a litttle, im gonna try some mmo. Quit running today on me. Wasnt getting any fuel out the pump, undid the fuel lines and blew back into the tank. Couldnt blow back at first, finally cleared it and hooked it all back up. gonna drop the tank and see if i can clean it out, she Purrs like a kitten. Still 6 volt. Starts easy and runs strong

Re: New to me 1947 super deluxe
You made a great find. Probably first thing to fix is fuel issues from sitting soo long. This is typical. Anyways - Beautiful car!! - Bob

Your coupe is looking good. I like the sun visor. It sounds like you had a little adventure on the trip. To me that beats a boring trip especially if no one was hurt.

dad,
What a great car and super color. Way too many owners of old Fords passing lately. Proves the 'saying' " We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time " Gotta DO it ! Charlie ny |

Re: New to me 1947 super deluxe
Thanks everyone! Im pretty excited to have something that runs and drives. Im trying to finish up my 31 av8 roadster, but wanted something i could take the family out and cruise. Ive got a few bugs to work out, but she'll be roadworthy soon. The family is excited about the car. Especially my 6 year old daughter, she says its her car! Haha

Re: New to me 1947 super deluxe
Good luck with it, it's beautiful. While you're working on the fuel system you should install an electric fuel pump. That way you can turn it on in the heat if it starts to get vapor lock. Try to run non-ethanol fuel in it also, ethanol eats away at the fuel pump, carburetor, and even the hose connecting the filler pipe to the tank.

Re: New to me 1947 super deluxe
Yep! Shes the only one i can get to help me in the shop. My son could care less, video games and basketball is all he cares about. Hes 11, i bought him a 66 f100 to build to drive to high school. Hopefully he'll take an interest soon. I dont force it on him. Heres my little girl helping on the roadster, in high heels haha |
