So the Import purchased Dec 2012 from Model A vendor failed at 500 miles.

What about the rest of the bearings shown ?

What is your point ?

Perhaps I shouldn't have assumed everyone would understand my intent. I recently posted some threads that referred to failures of imported rear wheel bearings that have been manufactured and sold in recent years.

The point was to show the original Ford bearing (A-1225) that came with the car and seemed to function ok and lasted a while, the later Ford manufactured bearing (B-1225-A) that might have been deemed an improvement over the original (or why would Ford change it?), an OEM (other equipment manufacture's) USA made bearing (RBC 00536) for reference (don't know how good it is, never installed), and the last two sets of photos show a failed bearing vintage 2012, and a recent purchase of a poorly manufactured bearing dated April 2016, apparently they haven't made much progress. If you look carefully at the last bearing you can notice the defects: end plates warped, and holding pins cocked.

Point: if you installed rear wheel bearings received from the Model A vendors in recent years, you might want to consider inspecting them before a catastrophic failure occurs.

Thanks for posting those pictures...I had read your earlier thread...it's interesting to see the differences in appearance.....and that at least one has Made in USA on it!

I think the original groved bearings are better than the later nos ones without the grease groves. I think the groves were eliminated due to cost at the expense of the life of the bearing.

Check end plates to see if they're hardened on the failed bearing. Compare to original. Big problem with caged roller bearings.
