Randy builds a really nice product. Installed one a couple months ago and really like it.

Re: F100 steering box
Could someone explain what this is, why it's better and how much?
Thank you! Larry Jenkins |

Re: F100 steering box
The man near Dallas is Bob Craig who is Garland, TX. You can get his phone # through a Google search or PM me. Years ago I attended a workshop he did on F100 conversions. Pricing starts around $500 and go down from there depending on the parts you supply. The donor box sector housing end is machined on a mill to match the shape of a model a sector housing including correct taper for frame rail. The sector shaft is machined square to accept the Model A pitman arm. A sleeve is machined to adapt the Model A column to the lesser diameter F100 steering shaft column mount. The Model A steering shaft is machined, sleeved and welded to the lower shaft from the F100 box. All aligned in a lathe. An adapter is made to hold the light switch housing. New sector roller, worm, bearings and seals are added as needed and adjusted. All machine work is high quality.

Re: F100 steering box
I have a 36 pickup that is all stock, and a 29
roadster that has a f-1 box in it, the A steers a lot easier then the 36 pickup, I think the 36 pickup would steer easier then a stock A

Re: F100 steering box
An F100 is better because the parts have been restored. Restore your Model A box and it's just as good IMHO. I've had both.

Re: F100 steering box
F100 steering boxes are only available in LHD. I have one that is about as useful to me as fly screens would be on a submarine. Can't comment on how good they are compared to an original Model A box.
Anyone want it? (Cheap). You arrange freight. PM me.

I have actually the steering assy from a RHD F1, everything but the steering box. I'am actually having the "swan neck" part of the steering that's mounted to the spindle bent to use in a transverse spring arrangement. |
