Default Research – 82-A Closed Cab Hinge Pillar Design?

See revised photos in post #5 below.

The first attached picture shows an unusual design of the 82-A closed cab left hinge pillar. Has anyone seen this design? I am quite sure that this hinge pillar was from an early 1929 79-A panel delivery.

The first picture shows the location for the side view mirror is 9" from the bottom of the upper hinge to the center line of the two mirror bracket mounting holes. The mounting holes are 2" on center and a tapping bar (or something) is attached to the inside of the pillar which have 5/16-24 threads for the dome (oval) headed hex bolts used to install the A-17741 mirror bracket.

The second picture shows the location of the d-nuts for the side view mirror is 6-3/4" from the bottom of the upper hinge to the center line of the d-nuts. These 5/16-24 d-nuts are also spaced 2" on center for the installation of the A-17741 mirror bracket.

The third picture shows the A-17741 mirror bracket.

I have a 2015 Bratton's catalog and the tow truck on the cover looks like it has that mirror arrangement.....

Two pictures. one from front one from rear. This mirror was on my 1928 pickup when I bought it in 1970. She is a 1928 Closed Cab Pickup. Date stamped on firewall was 6 6 1928.

The measurement from bottom of hinge to center of bolts (D nuts) is 6 and 3/4". Measure between bolts (D nuts) is 2"

Thanks for the pictures. Your cab has the mirror located as shown in the second picture below. These pictures are slightly modified after I re-measured. It is the first picture which I am seeking information.

Is it possible that the cab with the lower mounted mirror was for a AA truck, which would be higher off the ground?

Default Research – Hinge Pillar Designs

Based on photographs received, there are now five designs of the left hinge pillar for body types 79-A panel delivery, 82-A closed cab, and 85-A panel delivery. These designs are for different mirror bracket locations and designs. I am working on an article for the 2018 Double A'er which will update AA mirror installations.

Pictures of the five designs are attached. Note that my "hinge pillar" name is listed as "coupe pillar" in the Ford body parts list.
