What level of performance can I ultimately expect out of my original vacuum wiper? It has been rebuilt but is sketchy at best. Dont care for the Rainx solution and would be happy to switch to electric wiper except it would limit how far I am able to open the windshield. I keep the windshield full open during the summer months closing it only in the rain. Daily driver, she is in the rain all the time. Sometimes even in the snow;-)

What does sketchy at best mean. You are the first person I ever heard that did not like Rainex, is it too expensive. Commercial Aircraft use it.

Under normal driving conditions my vacuum works fine. Under acceleration it stops, or slows down, but on deceleration it speeds up. This is the same performance I have experienced from every vacuum wiper I've ever had, incl. Studebakers, Fords, and Chevies. I have not had much success with snow, though, under any conditions; it's too thick and heavy.

My vacuum wiper (31) does not seem to work at all. I was told it was rebuilt, which could mean almost anything. Can anyone refer me to a good article about trouble shooting the beast? If I hook up a vacuum meter, what should I see for vacuum to the unit? What are the problems that should be anticipated?

I have heard that half packing the wiper with vaseline will create a better seal and produce a better working unit. Myth?

Our club members have their wipers working, but we don't use them on tour. Makes windshield dirty. We all use rainx and it was. made for the A. Works great.

It didn't put any kind of visible film on my car, but it sure works great to keep the rain easy to see through.

If applied correctly I have never seen a film on my windshield. Use it on both my cars.

It won't if you put it on properly. Wayne

When you first apply RainX it does produce a hazy film. Just rinse it off and the glass will be clear again.

yea its supposed to make that hazy film then your supposed to buff it so it fills the micro scratches in your glass that way water has no place for surface tension to cling to but itself - gravity and wind do the rest.

on a flat vertical windshield i would only use rain x also, i use it on all my moderns and makes driving in the rain so much easier. If you put it on the inside it also helps prevent fogging.

A side ?...What is the small gasket made of that is between the slide valve and bearing plate in the diagram?

My wiper never performed well. Then I read a article somewhere ( just can't remember where &#128545 it needs a couple of drops of Marvel mystery oil remove the vacuum line and add a couple of drops and move the wiper back and forth. Plug the vac line back in now it works great !!! But put a rag on top of the tank for xs leakage

Instructions mention the haze and procedure. You glotta read the instructions. Wayne
