Thumbs up Great day for the A.

Today I was honored to drive a gentleman in the 28 leatherback to this birthday party. He turned 100 years old. He was so excited. He was 14 years old when the car came out. Even though it rained, it was great and it will be an experience I will never forget!

Yes! The look on his face when I pulled in and his 2 daughters were with me was just priceless.

Did you happen to take any pictures of him with your car, 5 years ago?
If so, please share.

If not, there is still time. June 2019 is right around the corner.

That's a nice story. I frequently try to trick elders into talking about their original experiences of the Model A, if not when it was first released, then at least when it was a common vehicle on the road. I am always amazed that flesh and bone can have lasted for as long as this kind of steel, but then maybe I shouldn't be.

This post reminded me... Here is a photo from August of 2013, taking my 99 year old neighbor/friend Dana for a ride. Had been promising him a spin for more than a few years, but need to get the motor rebuilt first. Picture tells all...

I take many oldies and kids for a ride. Frequently I invite them to drive. One lovely old fella was over the moon and he turned up at our club social gathering in his own newly purchased vehicle. regrettably not an A. He reminded me of that ride some 3 years ago and said it was that experience that kindled his interest.
When I invite them to take it for a drive many decline or speak of concern they may damage it. I assure them it was a heap of shit when I bought it and any damage can be repaired. Many then drive it like it was made of egg shells.
