Default John Deere Lubes...

Got to travel out to what's left of rural New Jersey today and stopped at a John Deere dealer to pick up some Corn Head grease and Slip Plate. They told me that they're not carrying the Slip Plate any more (at least at this dealer) 'cause it doesn't do what someone thinks it should. Is this a local phenomena? Also, is the Corn Head grease good to use in a steering box as well as the universal? Thanks!
