We finally got our '29 running well enough to attempt a trip to the courthouse to register and title it. We are learning from our experiences and help from this forum. All did not go well on the 14 mile trip into town. The two bolts holding the new carb to the manifold vibrated loose. You can imagine the issues associated with this. We discovered the problem and made it to/from the courthouse. The bolts now are Loctited and may stay in.
Now, on to the vibration. The clutch pedal, when up, vibrates when the car is moving. It will do it as the engine rpms climb in any gear. When it vibrates there is metal to metal contact somewhere. Holding the pedal fully up by hooking the left foot behind the pedal and lifting, the noise goes away.
When revving the engine in the garage, car in neutral, there is no apparent vibration of the engine and no unordinary noises.
Our thoughts are that the vibration is in the drivetrain, somewhere.
I am sure all this is vague information and we are unsure where to begin to diagnose the cause.
Hoping for some suggestions from the forum.

How is the lubrication on the clutch pedal shaft or the clutch release bearing?
It may be that the bearing is getting a little dry and not releasing the clutch fully.

There should be a grease fitting just under the small inspection cover in the transmission tower under the floorboards. If it needs grease just use a small amount as you don't want excessive grease getting thrown onto the clutch material.

Also check the pedal adjustment, could be not enough clearance?

Is the clutch throwout bearing return spring in place?
This is the spring from the front of the tranny to the throwout bearing ssleeve.

The pedal plates may be rubbing the sides of the pedal.

What we have determined is that the clutch pedal arm is hitting the angled plywood floor board. I guess that it's coming up too far. The metal sound we were hearing is the trim piece around the clutch/brake pedals vibrating.
When depressing the clutch pedal it travels about 2 inches before meeting resistance. If we interpret the manual correctly, this should be 1", correct?
I think this is what is meant by 1" free pedal travel before the clutch engages?
