Default Carlos and Miguel D'souza - Round the World trip

Did anyone meet these Brazilian brothers or hear about their trip? They drove a green 1928 roadster around the world...South to North America, then Australia, Africa to Europe. I'm not sure when the trip was, but it was either in the 1980s or early 90s. A search on Google brings up nothing.

It's not surprising that the web brings up nothing - it didn't exist in the '80s and wasn't very strong in the 90's so they couldn't/wouldn't have posted.

I tried the Trove website (digitised newspapers), but no luck there. They sure flew under the radar!

See you in Hamilton on Friday, Arnold! (All being well - car still in pieces so I better get off here and out in the shed!)

Didn't know about that one, but I'll do some digging. The last round the world trip I heard about was an Argentinian family that I think was doing a round the world trip in a blue chevrolet or essex of the same era. This was within the last ten years but can't recall the exact dates.

If it's as cold there as it is here, GOOD LUCK! (Still nothing like as cold as we hear our American friends have to suffer.)

Don't agree with this. Many pre-WWW trips have now been put onto the web or at least have been mentioned on a forum or blog. For example see:

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-st...7-1106767.html

http://www.brian-milton.com/bm~doc/alexa-photos.pdf

Perhaps info does exist on the web but it's not in English or I've got the spelling of their names wrong or ... they didn't make it all the way to Europe for some reason...they may have gone down in Africa like the guy in the links above.

I know about the trip because I have a short video clip from a Ford Australia TV program called I think "Ford Today". I'll see if I can upload it to Youtube. I'm surprised no one in the USA has heard about it as they went through North America and visited the Henry Ford

Okay, here's the video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2F9GXVg_lN8

In the video it says they planned to end the trip in NYC after doing
South to North America, Australia, Africa and Europe.

Find it hard to believe they made it to NYC and there's not a word about it
on the WWW (that I can find in English at least) and that no one here knows about it. Some of the many stickers on the car seem to be of sponsors. Surely their sponsors would ensure that the trip would receive lots of publicity if they made it all the way.

Maybe they joined the two piece crank club in the jungles of the Congo or the sands of the Sahara? Were their Burlington cranks back then??? Just hope
the poor devils they didn't go down in Africa never to be seen again.

Is there is a Model A club in Brazil? Would love to know the outcome of this roadtrip.

Hi Guys,
The Brazilian guys travelling all over the world is called the Zapp family and I think they are actually from Argintina. The are travelling in a 28/29 ish Graham Page.
They have been at it for about 12 years and their children were all concieved and born on this journey. Well that doesn't sound to good, does it? I meant they were 'at it' travelling the world, if you know what I mean.
Unfortunately, I missed them when they were in Cape Town.

Chris, see the video link above...the Brazilian guys are Brazilian guys! Their trip was in the 1980s or early 1990s. I know of the couple with children driving a Graham, different people.

TKs M2M,
I made a mistake. My post was in response to heneste#5. He did say they were from Argintina but wasnt sure if it eas a blue Chevy or an Essex.
What I should have said was, 'a28/29ish Graham Page'
Regards
Chris
