Need Stromberg 81 Bowl for display engine
Charlie NY (Charlie Schwendler) is working with me on the display engine. He is building an 81 carburetor for the project. It will be for display only from non functionable parts, but will look correct. He needs a bowl (Center section). Someone out there has one that is usable for our purposes. Is that person you, or do you know who would have this part. Thanks for any help or leads. Lawson

No, it will not be a running engine, only a display in the Early V8 Ford museum.

Done. I have seen that one listed on eBay. I have contacted Charlie NY.

Re: Need Stromberg 81 Bowl for display engine
I have a Holley Model 92 V8 60 carb (81 venturi), but I don't suppose that will do you any good if you need the earlier Stromberg.
Also, there is a guy on Facebook (halabout) that sells Stromberg stuff. Sal |

Yeah, I'm looking for the Stromberg. I'll try halabout.

I'll trade a no issue ready to use 97 bowl...big or small logo....for a compromised
unusable BUT PRETTY ON THE EXTERIOR Stromberg 81 bowl. Stripped out threads, blown out power valve well, busted J tubes will work no problem Charlie ny [email protected] |

Re: Need Stromberg 81 Bowl for display engine
Is the little 60 an early or late model?
If it's early, the correct bowl would be marked "52/81". If it's later you'd need the bold "81". Either way, I just found one of each in the bottom of the barrel; bowls only. Let me know.

Uncle Max. Check your private messages. Thanks for reaching out to me. The engine, by the way, is a 1939 model.

Re: Need Stromberg 81 Bowl for display engine
That's my understanding as well. Actually, I think they started the change in 1938 on the 85's; the 60's are a mystery to me.

Re: Need Stromberg 81 Bowl for display engine
I've seen more than one carburetor listing that says '39 was all Holley 94 for the 221 85 HP engines and all Holley 92 (81 venturi) for the 60 HP engines. Also the Mercury 239's.

Re: Need Stromberg 81 Bowl for display engine
Just for grins and giggles... Info in the 35-46 Motor's Manual says...
Ford 1939-40 (60) Holley AA-7/8 7/8 venturi I have no idea of accuracy. I would go with whatever Max says. BTW, 7/8 = .875.... So, if .81 is what it is, was that also referred to as 7/8 by Holley??? |

Re: Need Stromberg 81 Bowl for display engine
Right or wrong, my understanding was Chandler Groves in late 38, which became the Holley "94" in 39. A 91-99 carb number translates into 1939 221 -239
