Default Aluminum Radiator's from China

I don't need a Radiator, I was just rummaging around on E-bay and found this.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HIGH-PERFORM...item19d61cdecd

I looked up the Duty from China, this is what I came up with, from China to the US.

Notes on duty & taxes rates
  • Automobile Radiator has an import duty rate of 2.5% .
Notes on import taxes due
  • Duty due is nil because the total value of the products does not exceed US$200.00
  • In rare cases, state sales tax may be collected in addition to import duty & taxes
  • Please note that your shipping provider may add an additional handling fee

Its funny, the poster listed it as A 28-31 we all know that isn't possible. Below in the description is say's for 28-29. Beware of the import fee's!

Hi Jazzir,

Don't need a radiator at present either; have no idea if these are worth it or not.

Witnessing news such as this can maybe get a very few Conservative minds of true Americans to reflect whether or not it would have been better if part of the Solyndra $528,000,000.00 could have been "donated" to, for example:

1. Our U. S. Gaslight Company to make new accurate molds for brand new 1928-1931 Model A steel fenders; &,

2. A few of our local U. S. radiator companies to mass produce new Model A radiators at a very competive price like Ford did; &

3. A few local U. S. sheet metal companies to make molds for more accurate sub-rails & other similar Model A parts companies to help stimulate our economy.

Every Model A item sold would have generated sales taxes, & every item made would have generated employee income taxes.

But with very thoughtful intelligent long range planning, Solyndra did what was expected & immediately went bankrupt & "poof" ................ our hard earned tax dollars went up in smoke to who knows who!

So sad for only so few; but, maybe we'll get even luckier & next year China will begin making affordable new accurately molded Model A steel fenders for us.

That's some claim they make " 2 row rad will cool up to 700hp engine"!!!!

It looks like it doesn't taper like the original 28-29's that are wider at the bottom either.

it would be an interesting exercise for a few guys to pool their money and get one of these, just to do some beta testing for both fit & cooling.
if it were for 30-31 I'd be tempted.
photo on eBay does not exactly inspire confidence as far as fit........

Again- the "R" value of copper is about half of Aluminum. Copper cools better. I had heating trouble with my Model "A" for a couple of years. I bought a new one from Brass Works and I can run without a fan. One blade on a four blade fan broke off and put a big gash in the radiator and no leak. I run a two bladed fan now because they look original.

I think the radiator was around $600. I think the money was will spent.

There is a huge mark up on radiators. When I was in the collision business we could buy new identical aftermarket radiators for less than half the price of OEM radiators. This is what most insurance adjusters required us to use. I'm not sure where the radiators were made, could have been Mexico. There was never a complaint with any of the aftermarket radiators that we were required to use, I put one on my mothers Chevrolet and it worked perfectly. I asked but was unable to get one for my model A's.

I wouldn't go through the wait and added expense of ordering anything from an off shore company. Its a shame that some model A vendor doesn't offer a lower priced radiator.

Interesting, looks like some fitting and tweaking may be required. No way to tell if they are any good without trying one, who wants to go first?

On ebay Australia, I see aluminium radiators all the time.

All are supposedly model A for chevy engines or flathead engines.

I have asked all of the vendors for a stock standard model A one.

Half of them don't even know what I am talking about.

The other half say they have sold 100/s with no complaints.

How many model A/s are there out there with flatheads?

Seems dumb to me, if they just changed the outlets, I would try one for $200 with free postage.

I've got a 3 row in my coupe.. $164 to my door.. Had to notch the cross member an inch to fit the 29 shell.. Never got over 180* last summer even with 105* temps at Columbus Goodguys.. Engine is a 350 Chevy.. I know it's cheap China crap but I'm pretty cheap too...
