Default It's alive.

Hi Folks.

After much frustration on my part and after replacing the battery I finally pulled the cables (Thanks Ronnie Roadster) after jumpering from the battery

to solenoid and ground and it came alive.
Couldn't see it before but the sol end of the cable was wrapped with electrical tape, removed it and the end was corroded. Had the cable cut back to good copper and soldered a new end on. Will install cable tomorrow but it seems like the "gremlin" has been found.
THANKS to everyone who responded with their suggestions.
Much appreciated ! ! !

So Paul....That SOUNDS like exactly what I suggested in my post (BELOW)......

" I would first disconnect the POS battery cable from the battery. Then, disconnect the NEG battery cable from the SOLENOID post. This is likely the bad/corroded/dirty connection. Clean and wire-brush ALL the wire connectors and the threaded solenoid post. THIS IS THE CONNECTION where the lights, ignition, starter button, horn get their power. Re-connect the wires that you removed and cleaned on that threaded post. Re-connect the NEG battery cable. Now, re-test your very first test with the meter. IF you now have 6v, your problem is solved. "

......in your ORIGINAL thread stating your problem....IS THAT CORRECT? DD
