Default How many Model A's is the perfect number?

You can only drive one Model A at a time. Two cars are twice as much money to buy, twice as much to insure, take twice as much space to store and take twice as much time and money to keep up. We're in this hobby for the enjoyment not to feel like it's work. One car is very very enjoyable. Is two twice as enjoyable or half as enjoyable...

If you have two Model A's, you can be driving one while the other is undergoing repairs or restoration.

Yes, there is the possibility that both will be in need of repair at the same time, but that also means there are times when both are running top-notch, and you get to choose which one you will drive today. There is a certain freedom that comes from knowing that if your Model A breaks down, you can just tow it home and hop in the other car and meet up with the group and have fun anyway.

One of each year and body style.

I keep hearing they are like Lays Potato chips - you can't have just one. I have a 1931 coupe that I inherited from my grandfather. The downside to my coupe is that I can only take 1 passenger (two if we're cozy) but the fact that its my grandfather's car and the memories I have tied up in it I will keep it above any others. I would love to have a sedan - or even a second car with a rumble seat to take the family or more friends along but the problem I see is that it might stall my progress and motivation for the restoration of my own car even more.

There is also an issue with space for me. I hardly have enough room in my garage to restore 1 car - let alone store 2. Perhaps later in life if I have a greater income and larger garage I can entertain the thought of owning two - once my coupe is done and I"m driving that I can use the tools and expertise restoring my first model A to preserving a second. For now I think its best I only have one. I have a hard enough time staying focused on maintaining progress to one day get it done!

Depends on how much money & space you have... half a model A is a good start. One of each body style is alright if you have the money & space.

Probably one is enough to keep all in perspective.
But you get one then hear if another and another then another
You just can't pass one up. Actually unless you go hog wild on prof resto, a Model A can still be an affordable car and hobby. Also, fairly easy to get in and out of on sale/trade
But, keep in mind hoarding isn't a good thing and being a good steward to these cars isn't easy either. Upkeep etc if done correctly takes a lot of time for each car. Tires, battery, fuel system, tuned, rid of mice......it isn't all that easy.

Two is a good number. One open car and one closed car.

I have 5.
Each one has a special meaning to me.
Lately I've been driving one of my Minis.
I should downsize the collection, but which ones to sell? A pheaton sure would look nice in the garage though. Decisions..decisions..! . Jeff

We all tend to collect too much. I grew up with way too many cars around. It was nice having 3 cars to choose from every morning I went to high school. Kind of confused my classmates.

Cars are mechanical things that need to be used. The Model A is really a car to be driven often. So everyone needs to gauge what is right for their personality and wallet. I know of a bunch of people with cars that do not have enough money to live proper day to day and should not have any.

Of course given unlimited budget then one of each would be the correct answer. Cept I am very tall and would have to limit the collection to ones I could actually drive. Oh and that 68 GT 500 Shelby conv too.

I have an open one and a closed one. When I had them together at the same location, it was a pain moving the tools and stuff from one to the other. Now I have the roadster down south and it works out great. Big advice: Keep a log book on each car so you can know when you changed the oil, cleaned the plugs, put new points in etc. If you don't, it will all run together and you will be guessing all the time.

" We're in this hobby for the enjoyment not to feel like it's work." I have four and I do not consider it as work. They are my hobby, I enjoy driving and working on them. My garage will hold 11 vehicles, maybe if I last long enough it will be filled with Model As. The older I get the more I feel that life is too short not to get what you want. Since retiring in 2008 I wanted something to spend time doing, and driving, restoring and maintaining As works for me. Your mileage may vary.

I have to admit that my '69 Shelby GT350 is a good stable mate for my A's.

Cars have come in and out of my life.

I do have "one" keeper, 40 years, 1929 Sport Coupe. Has taken five generations for ice cream.

No matter what it is or now many there are, we all have a favorite one. Enjoy.
