Around here the commercial fisherman would take the doors off the vehicle when driving on the ice, to make it easier to exit in the event of a break through.

Saw a film, about a Snowmobile that fell through the ice, the season before, was lifted from 12 feet of water, in Lake Michigan.
After a thorough cleaning/drying out/changing all fluids/etc, it was not damaged & operated PERFECTLY!!! Bill W.
