Scored a set of Ford Times 1941
Lots of interesting articles, I’ll display them with my ‘41 sedan coupe.

Re: Scored a set of Ford Times 1941
Like you, I'd found these often quite interesting. I'd sold mine years ago and was surprised at how little value they hold. In fact, many, well into the 1950's went in the trash.

Re: Scored a set of Ford Times 1941
I got a complete set Ford TIMES from 1949 and 1950 at Hershey several years ago.
May not have value, but that is not why I purchased them. Scored many points with the CP (central provider) when she saw the recipes. Nothing like made from scratch biscuits. And when you travel the two lane, there are suggestions for places to see (that even still exist). ========================= Title of this post and picture are not the same. Shame on me for not checking the photo --- Ford Times and Ford News are TWO different items. Ford Times was the little booklet that Ford Dealers mailed to customers with stories, recipes and travel tips. Ford News was also mailed to customers, but contained stories of Ford vehicles, Ford dealers, Ford industries, Edison experiments, and travels with Ford vehicles. We are not comparing the same magazine as the last 5 Ford News magazines that I purchased cost me over $25 a piece. Last edited by nelsb01; 01-28-2023 at 01:00 AM. |

Re: Scored a set of Ford Times 1941
I received quite a few from a Barn Forum member for the price of postage. (Can’t recall his name at the moment). I’ve read most of them and plan to read them all. I think they’re very interesting. ......Mark

Re: Scored a set of Ford Times 1941
corvette8n, that would be great! I bought a pile of Ford Times from 1958-81 at an antique store recently. I know they aren't real valuable but they were sent out by our local Ford dealership that was in business 1907-1990. I worked there as a washboy in high school.

Re: Scored a set of Ford Times 1941
Flatford8, I've been in Phoenixville doing a dealer trade when I ran the Ford dealership in Ashland, PA. Also have the Norman Rockwell picture from 1953 of Henry, Edsel, and Henry II that came from Wiscasset, ME. The dealership collectibles can be just as addicting as the cars and expensive. I bought some of my stuff in the 80's and 90's when many of the small dealerships were going out of business. Probably couldn't afford it now.

Re: Scored a set of Ford Times 1941
John, I agree on the collectible part of dealership items. A year or so ago someone from Washington posted a photo of a dealership sign from Cornish, ME. Right up the road from me........Mark

John (1942Deluxe), since you have been involved with a number of dealerships, what is the building in your avatar?

Re: Scored a set of Ford Times 1941
Zeke3, that was the Ford dealership in Lavelle, PA. Was the first Ford dealership in Schuykill County. Owned by Romeo Hornung, he was interesting guy. Paralyzed from the waist down but still could drive a car and taught a number of people how to fly an airplane. Talk about refusing to be a victim. The building is still standing but has been converted to apartments. The photo was in the Model A era and has a banner for "The New Ford".
