Default Finishing 1936 Trunk - material for lining panels

What material have people used when finishing the interior of their trunks, original style. There appears to be some kind of cardboard panels that cover the panel behind the rear seat, the sides of the trunk and the back inside of the trunk. Similar to the material used for 1941 Truck headliner maybe?

1.) Is anyone producing the trunk panels as a kit?
2.) Is the correct material still available in sheets, or are people using something else?
3.) Where is the material available?
4.) Does anyone have templates for the 1936 Trunk Back sedan trunk?

If I can get some material that will work I am sure I can create close templates of the panels.

Thanks

On our '41, we used ABS haircell finish plastic. one side is pebble grain. moisture doesn't affect the plastic. Got sheets from McMaster-Carr Supply. Our trunk had a small leak and I doubt cardboard would have lasted 25 yrs.

Since Eckler's is no longer in business they were the only ones to my knowledge who supplied the panels. You can get the panel board from most upholstery supply stores or maybe order it through your local upholstery shop. I have also found the black panel material at Hobby Lobby.
You will probably have to make your own patterns by using pieces of carboard to make them. You may get lucky to find someone who already has the patterns. It would be interesting to know where all those patterns (upholstery and panels) went when Eckler's sold out.

I bought large black cardboard panels from SMS in Canby, Or locally. Not all employees knew of the panels. Newc

Ended up templating the panels using cardboard and then cut them out of 1/8" ABS sheeting. It has graining on the one side, it is a bit shiny, but certainly made the trunk look much more finished. Thanks for the idea fordor41.

Check for a plastics supplier within a reasonable distance if you go for the ABS; it is a pretty common item.

Shipping would be killer for the 4x8 panels.
